About Us

Diamond in the Ruff Pet Retreat is a business started to cater to those who demand the most for their pets. We feature 10 rolling acres of bush and trails, with a picturesque pond and stream. We can house up to 32 of our canine friends in deluxe accomodations. Each kennel has a minimum of 100 square feet of individual space. Indoor runs have heated ceramic floors, air condition and air purification to provide comfortable and sanitary conditions for the guests. Each suite has a private window to the outside. The outdoor runs are 75 square feet each and are sheltered from the elements with translucent material that lets natural light in. We offer various options that let you select the ideal pet hospitality package.

Diamond in the Ruff started as a dream several years ago and slowly materialized to its present state. It is owned and managed by T.J. and Janice Hunter at our lovely rural location in Puslinch, Ontario. We have years of pet experience including boarding and grooming. We invite curious customers to come and visit, have a look around our facilities before making the decision to board with us.

What to Look For

Whatever your decision, here are some basic features to look out for when selecting a caretaker for your pet.

  • Room Size: many kennels offer small cramped accomodation for your pet. Be sure that your pet will have enough space to get up, walk around and stretch its legs.
  • Cleanliness: If a kennel is hesitant or unwilling to show you through the facility, be wary. Diamond in the Ruff encourages customers to take a tour of our facilities and takes pride in our meticulous cleaning.
  • Walks and Playtime: Inquire about the kennel's promises about walking and playtime. One-on-one contact are often needed to make a pet feel at home while their family is away.
  • Vaccination Records: While it is a small inconvenience to require our customers provide us with these records, it also ensures that your pet's neighbours will be disease-free. Beware of kennels that are casual about this requirement.
  • Privacy: Make sure that your pet will have enough privacy at night to allow it to get the proper rest, and to reduce nervousness.
